Good to knowThis guide is put together by students, not by professionals or official bodies. It is meant to help you and your parents through enrolment and settling into life in Slovenia. Some details may change or become outdated, so always check the official sources and confirm anything important with the relevant institutions. We take no responsibility for wrong, outdated or misunderstood information — but we are always glad to help. 1

Research

Bachelor

  • Read the annual national call for enrolment.
  • Confirm whether the programme is academic, professional, or an integrated master.
  • Check admission subjects, selection criteria, language, non-EU or Western Balkan places, and aptitude tests.
  • Compare the actual city where teaching takes place.

Master

  • Read the university or faculty call.
  • Confirm whether your bachelor field is directly eligible.
  • Check whether the programme committee may assign additional courses.
  • Verify language, interview, motivation letter, portfolio, references, or work-experience requirements.
2

Prepare documents

  • Valid passport, final diploma, annual school reports, transcript, and diploma supplement as relevant.
  • Certified translations when requested, a chronological education statement, and programme-specific evidence.
  • High-quality digital scans.

Do not wait until the final application day to discover that a translation or document is missing.

3

Submit through eVŠ

  • Open the correct call and select the correct applicant category.
  • Enter previous education completed abroad and start the recognition request inside the application.
  • Select programmes in the permitted order, upload every attachment, press Submit, and save the confirmation.
4

Recognition and selection

The institution checks whether your previous education grants access, whether documents are complete, whether programme conditions are met, and your ranking where applications exceed places.

Recognition is not a separate optional service. For applicants educated abroad, it is part of the admission process.

5

Admission and enrolment

After a positive decision, read the enrolment instructions, complete enrolment, pay only officially required charges, obtain the certificate of enrolment, and confirm when student status starts.

6

Residence, health, and housing

Do these in parallel: confirm the residence pathway, obtain RM/SI 3, search for accommodation, and prepare proof of sufficient means and accommodation.

7

Travel and arrival

Carry in hand luggage your passport, admission and enrolment evidence, residence evidence, RM/SI 3, accommodation contract, education originals, medical documentation, and emergency funds.

8

First week

  • Move in, complete enrolment if pending, and confirm the real EMŠO.
  • Register the address, submit RM/SI 3 to ZZZS, and obtain a tax number if needed.
  • Activate student meals, arrange transport, learn the portal, attend orientation, and contact MSOS.
9

During the year

  • Track residence and insurance expiry dates and renew benefits each academic year.
  • Inform institutions when your address, passport, programme, or status changes.
  • Ask before withdrawing, changing programme, pausing, or beginning regular employment.
