This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process when you visit this website or subscribe to our newsletter, why we process it, and what rights you have. We keep the data we collect to a minimum and we handle it in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Slovenian data protection law.
Who we are
The data controller responsible for your personal data is the Macedonian Student Organisation in Slovenia (MSOS), Masarykova cesta 24, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia. You can contact us about anything in this policy by email at info@msosorg.com or info.msosorg@gmail.com.
What data we collect
Depending on how you use the website, we may process the following personal data:
- Your email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Your name, only if you choose to provide it in the newsletter form.
- The content of any message you send us, if you contact us by email.
- Basic technical data that your browser sends automatically (such as IP address, browser type, and the date and time of your request), stored temporarily in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
We do not knowingly collect any special categories of data, and we do not use profiling or automated decision-making.
Why we use your data and our legal basis
- Newsletter: to send you news, event invitations, and student information you asked to receive. Our legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Replying to your messages: to answer your question or request. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in communicating with you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Website security and stability: to keep the site working and protect it from misuse. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The newsletter
We send our newsletter using MailerLite, an email service provider based in the European Union that processes the data on our behalf. When you enter your email address, we use double opt-in: MailerLite first sends you a confirmation email, and you are added to the list only after you confirm. This protects you from being subscribed without your knowledge.
Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, so you can leave the list at any time. You can also unsubscribe by emailing us at info@msosorg.com or info.msosorg@gmail.com.
Who has access to your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the website and the newsletter, and only so they can perform those tasks for us:
- MailerLite, which delivers our newsletter (European Union).
- Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its server logs.
We may also disclose data if we are required to do so by law or by a valid request from a public authority.
International data transfers
We try to keep your data within the European Union or the European Economic Area. Where a provider needs to process data outside the EEA, it must do so under the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep your data
- Newsletter email address: until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent, after which we remove it from our active list.
- Email correspondence: for as long as needed to deal with your request, and a reasonable period afterwards.
- Server logs: kept for a short period, then deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- erase your data (“the right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to our processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@msosorg.com or info.msosorg@gmail.com. If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia (Informacijski pooblaščenec), Dunajska cesta 22, 1000 Ljubljana, www.ip-rs.si.
Cookies
This website uses strictly necessary and preference cookies, and Google Analytics to measure how the site is used, but only if you accept analytics cookies through our consent banner. We do not use advertising cookies. You can read more in our Cookie Policy.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to review our measures over time.
Children
This website is not directed at children. If you are younger than 15, which is the age of consent for information society services in Slovenia, please do not subscribe to the newsletter without the consent of a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of the page. Please check back occasionally to stay informed.
